Pressure of 100 100's too much for the little master?
If this were a ODI series, he would have hit a century or two by now. He knows the ODI routine so well - start off with 4-5 boundaries, get a run a ball 50, then slow down as the field expands, milk the gaps by running hard for singles and 2s and get to the 90s, then take 10 singles to get to 100. He has done it about 50 times and could do it in his sleep.
A nice feather bed of a wicket without a hint of swing, batting at his favorite opener's spot in a ODI is the perfect antidote to cure his hundredth_hundreditis.
In a test match he bats like a lost lamb - indecisive, wasting good starts, not knowing how to pace his innings, going into a defensive shell and looking like a shadow of the batsman he is known to be. Unless the second match is a lost cause or if the series itself is no longer at stake, he may not be able to shake off the pressure and score a century. So, should he drop himself out of the test matches citing injury?
The team could benefit immensely without the focus on his personal landmark.
BTW, I take back my comments about him not revealing fever in the first test. He ran hard and fielded the ball on days 1 and 2, so he wasn't feverish at all. It seems it was a viral fever that laid him low. So my criticism of him was unfounded and regrettable.

and your criticism of him here is also unfounded. all batsmen go through some lean patches. the thing here is that he seems to be in good nick. for the thirty or so runs he seems to be scoring each innings, he has middled the ball and hit some glorious looking boundaries. just one of those things. i'll give him the benefit of doubt always. i don't think he is nervous. he'll get there. maybe second innings.

How many "chance" should be given to Yuvraj? Vijay? Dravid? Lafbhajan? SRT ?
If SRT should be given any nuber of chances bcz of his 50 centuries, why shouldnt Lafbhajan be given the same privilege - as he has taken the highest # of wickets in the team.

don't agree at all. his first innings batting at Lord's was anything but lamb-like. and i think you are overreacting. it is only three innings so far and the first one does not give any hints of pressure. if he wanted to chase that milestone, he could have opted for WI tour and scored a hundred there.

LOL! saar! you are also overreacting. you don't like stats and numbers, but let me try it again. he has scored two hundreds in south africa where he played his last test series before this one. although the first one was in a lost cause, the second one was extremely important in drawing the series. he came to bat when we were 28/2 and scored 146 (gambhir made 93) and leveled the score. in the second innings, he was on the crease for two and a half hours and played 90 deliveries. if you drop him, you need to think about a replacement. who do we have? murali vijay and aniruddhha shrikant? or badrinath?

Sorry...great things are expected from the greatestest batsmen - expectations from SRT is different from that from gambhir and Raina.
Your justifications and excuses for SRT are more suitable for Abhinav and Yuvraj. A great batsman with the most international exp needs 3 innings and excuses to click, then he should be treated on par with Yuvraj. If Dravid can score and VVSL can score/support what is the issue with the greatetest Master blaster ? His scoring in 3 innings are equal in performance to that of Lafbhajan's 3 innings - no more.

SRT is not asking people to call him the greatest, so why should he suffer for what people choose to call him? i think that the selection committee is judging him just like any other player (which is exactly what you want). if a mukund or yuvraj singh (your examples) are considered after a few failure, then why not SRT?
as for your comparison of SRT with harbhajanitor singh, SRT has had a tremendous record for the last two years to back his selection, but not harbhajan singh. therefore he should be given a longer rope than him. one more point is that there are able bowlers in the squad to replace harbhajanitor singh, but not SRT. sehwag and gambhir are already down, so who will replace SRT?
