Uppili vs Charvaka: The Race for the Top
In the quest of who will be Number if terms of casting negative votes for other posters on this forum we seem to have a two horse race as of now.
Leading the pack is: Charvaka with 30 negative votes (28 negative votes + 2 negative votes in his Admin handle = 30 negative votes)
https://such.forumotion.com/u2stats
Coming second is Uppili with 26 negative votes
https://such.forumotion.com/u29stats
A distant third is Hellsangel with 14 negative votes
https://such.forumotion.com/u5stats
--> Only a few hours ago, Uppili had only 10 negative votes to his credit. I had commented on this in another thread.
https://such.forumotion.com/t2271p100-the-case-against-regional-parties#19528
--> But looks like he is galloping away now. Buck up, Uppili. Faster!

--> Update: Uppili now has 30 negative votes i.e. 4 more votes from last time This is getting exciting.
--> This morning, i had 24 negative votes cast against me. Right now, the figure stands at 44. When i started this thread, there were 40 negative votes caste against me. So you see, i too am in a race: The race for the person with maximum number of negative votes cast against him. The vast majority of those votes will be from Uppili, Admin Charvaka, and Hellsangel.
--> It is possible that after a certain threshold has been reached my user account will get deleted automatically. If that happens, my goodbye to everyone on this forum.

https://such.forumotion.com/t2271p100-the-case-against-regional-parties#19522
--> In the same thread, Admin Charvaka admits to giving me multiple negative votes but he claims he only gave 4 negative votes to me and not more.

hi krips! hru?
individual posters decide which post they like and give it a 1+ by clicking on+ sign on the right of every post. They give 1- if they dont like it.
one person can only give one vote once. well i dk if we can reverse it if we wanted to but you can give + or - only once to one post.

Re: Uppili vs Charvaka: The Race for the Top
Correct. We cannot reverse votes. (I don't think Forumotion allows it.)seven wrote:well i dk if we can reverse it if we wanted to but you can give + or - only once to one post.

carvaka,
are we anti abuse ? do we plan to ban handles that swear ( like we saw in sulekha CH) ?
If not then do we absolutely need the +/- feature ? Think about it and let others tell their views too. If anything its creating friction. I think it was meant to report abuse by giving it a negative vote like r2d2 pointed out and if we are not anti abusive posts then can we not do without the +/- option ?

No, there will be no moderation on this forum.seven wrote:carvaka,

The +/- is not for moderation at all. It serves the same function as the "like button" on Facebook, that many users asked for. Of course, we have the additional dislike button.seven wrote:If not then do we absolutely need the +/- feature ? Think about it and let others tell their views too. If anything its creating friction. Re: Uppili vs Charvaka: The Race for the Top
Yes, and I looked into removing the - button last time I logged in as admin. Ideally I would have liked to have just one button and show it as "Like" or thumbs-up instead of the plus button. But I found that the only way I can do that is by making extensive changes to the look-and-feel of all pages of the forum, which I didn't want to do both because of the amount of work involved, and the ugliness of the other look-and-feel.seven wrote:charvaka wrote:No, there will be no moderation on this forum.seven wrote:carvaka,

In order to prevent abuse of the voting system, each user is restricted to 20 votes per day. Those 20 can be + or - votes. If the voting system is not working for you tomorrow, let me know and I will look into it.Marathadi-Saamiyaar wrote:Why the +/_ is not responding when i click it? It was fine earlier. But not now.

Wait every post should be given ONE vote with no limits. It is like congress restricted on the number of amendments it can vote on any day.
This happened only in mogul period.
Looks like you are the one Akbarized - by Rashmunullah Akbari.

No I set the rules in place before I had any argument with anyone here. I still believe that's the correct rule, to prevent one or two bad actors from vote-spamming the system.Marathadi-Saamiyaar wrote:charvaka wrote:In order to prevent abuse of the voting system, each user is restricted to 20 votes per day.
