Update about Vancouver, WA
It was overcast and raining on the one day we were there. Glad we got to see that because six months of that would make us suicidal. I'm glad DH and I were both able to agree for once.
Loved how socially progressive that area was, however it was a bit too left-wing for our liking. While DH and I would like to be in or near an educated city without bible-thumping, ultra-conservative hicks, we don't want to be around homeless drug users and potheads, or pay a dime in taxes to help support their lifestyle.

Re: Update about Vancouver, WA
Other thoughts: We didn't like the soul-less suburban vibe. In fact, we've become so used to the country lifestyle that seeing fast food restaurants, strip malls, cookie-cutter subdivisions, traffic (and there wasn't even a whole lot of it in the burbs) made us nervous.
We'd prefer not to live in a subdivision in an oversized house with a tiny yard and no sidewalks in the community considering that we plan on keeping all three of our dogs together. The loss of one of them would be too much to bear for us and for them. We plan on keeping our backyard chickens too because the dogs are so fond and protective of all of them that we don't want to separate them. No HOA will allow any of that and we wouldn't want to put three dogs and thirteen chickens in a small backyard anyway.
Still looking for a location near a small socially progressive city... with a stand-alone small house in the middle of the woods, far, far away from any major road. In fact, we don't want to see any concrete anywhere near our house and would prefer a road outside our house that's either a dirt road or a gravel road. Same with the driveway. No concrete. No neighbors. We don't want to see another house from our house. No cars passing by our house. Just lots and lots of trees.

dont you have a lazyass housewife support group to post on?
also, currently, does hungweilo go into the backyard to choke one of the 13 chickens twice a month when he feels like it?
