An editorial in the Indian Express said Modi's "terrific" move to invite regional leaders "should help generate a more realistic appreciation of India's foreign-policy trajectory in the coming years."
"What matters in the end, however, is the prospect of a more self-assured government in Delhi that is ready to engage the neighbors without standing on protocol and precedent," it added.

Now that JJ and Vaiko all boycotted with streaming tears in their eyes for Ealam tamils, they can go back to screaming for 2015 votes and work on alliances.
These guys are bent on converting SL tamil refugees into permanent Palestinians inside India.

ALL Tamil leaders are looking for Tamil votes in next election. Any picture/video (even a long shot) with Rajapaksha was disastrous for next election.Marathadi-Saamiyaar wrote:An editorial in the Indian Express said Modi's "terrific" move to invite regional leaders "should help generate a more realistic appreciation of India's foreign-policy trajectory in the coming years."

I don't blame Tamil leaders boycotting Delhi now. Votes matter more for ALL politicians.

Do the common Tamilians really care that much about this issue as to influence who they will vote for in the elections? For example, if Jayalalitha had attended the swearing in ceremony with Rajapaksha and the DMK leaders had not, would all the Tamilians vote for the DMK in the next elections based on this issue?

single issues in politics are seldom make or break for a candidate. however, it could make a difference in the margins if the vote was close. the politicians by respecting people's opinion were simply buying themselves insurance.
