Re: This happened in chennai India
how does it work in india? is there a waiting list for organ transplants based on medical criteria, or is the list arranged by the size of the recipient's bank account and ability to pay?

For all the cynicism about Govt.Programs and Hospitals..the Cadaver Transplant Program in Tamil Nadu is well coordinated- with strict guidelines, regulations and oversight.
*Am sure, it will continue to improve with all the medical advances and rising awareness of the public- and registering to be donors in record numbers.

The medical experts at MMC and GGH, Chennai are the best- bestest:) And the review panels seem to have good representation from many public and private insitutions, groups- and a growing network of public and private hospitals.

I have one more daboot:
How many ambulances with heart attack patients are stuck in the very same Beach road and San Thome road every day ?
P.S. Looks like the recipent is a rich marwari from Bombay....why a hindian getting a Tamilan heart ? Isn't there any tamilan needing a heart?
remember Vias Rao Deshmukh - the Bomnay CM who flew to Chennai for a liver transplant ?
