With so many recent air disasters, I think it is a good idea not to travel together.

There is always a silver lining to every dark cloud.

But, think of it.. An entire family gone. A group some 100+ AIDS researchers gone (If you look closely you will be surprised to find only 10 to 15 well-established/cited researchers in any sub-sub-subspecialty).

Such a group loss is definitely a set back - be it a family or a community.

this one fam I know, have family business which at the time was handled by father and son. They had a rule that the two never travelled together, so that if any such accident has to happen, one can still live on and support the family.

Another fam. The parents never travel without the kids. Either all die, or one parent lives. Kids won't be left orphaned. I think they will change this stance only when the oldest turns into an adult.

Come to think of it I and my wife have traveled only a couple of times all our lives - just happened that way. We both traveled alone together just 2 years ago for the first time ever by plane.

Now, with all these plane crashes/disappearances, I will have restrategize.

Things like these are very rare. Unfortunate. But stuff happens. I heard about a couple in Bay Area, they were going to pick up their son from some class n a truck hit them. Both parents died in the car.
We can only plan so much. We cannot let this type of news dictate how we travel n live.

Well , accidents can happen the other way also.
Husband and kids drop off the wife going to India , at the airport . While going back home , they get killed in a car accident. Wife doesn't even know till she reaches India. Fate.

Chaganti is a well known last name with several well educated people. So, you may be related to someone in them.
