It seems this is how Jayalalitha’s party members pay homage to their leader by prefacing their questions in Lok Sabha with:

"My namaskaram to my leader, Puratchithalaivi Tamil Tai Amma and our honourable Speaker, popularly known as Hindi Tai ... Madam, with blessings of our leader, Puratchithalaivi Amma, I want to raise my first supplementary question.”

What does “puratchithalaivi” translate to?

Puratchi Thalaiavi comes from sanskrit. Puratchi has origin in Purattu (meaning lies), similar to buruda.

But, my important question is "Is Sithraman an Iyer or an Iyengar?"

JJ is an Iyengar. (one of my friend's mother is JJ's cousin and I have heard stories about JJ since the bygone era).

Please don't mind Max and his nasty attitude. The violent ~~bollywood~~hindi movies that he watched recently are to be blamed for his foul mood. Otherwise he is a very nice person ( if you can ignore the streaks of snobbishness) as we know.

actually i think tamils would spell tai as thAi only. it's the same ta sound as in bharat.

Yeah. It's easy if we stick to Itrans method of transliteration. That's what we use for Sanskrit transliteration. There are many software programs that can let you go back and forth between Itrans and Devanagari. Here is the Wiki on Itrans. ("t" sound is like in mitra/putra, and "T" sound is like in vaaTika/auto/note etc.
