OP Chautala and his son Ajay Singh Chautala are barred from contesting after their sentencing in a teachers' recruitment case. However, the former Chief Minister's son Abhay, who is a sitting MLA, is seeking re-election from Ellenabad while Ajay's son Dushyant, who is Hisar MP, is contesting the October 15 polls from Uchana Kalan. Ajay Chautala's wife Naina Chautala, has also entered the fray, being the first woman from Devi Lal clan to contest. She is in fray from Dabwali, the seat represented by her husband. Addressing a poll rally at Kurukshetra on Monday, Modi had said people should throw out those parties whose leaders were only interested in promoting their interests and that of their family at the cost of development and ensure that they do not get a single seat in the Assembly polls.
