what did modi get right so far?

Modi seems to have some level of social intelligence compared to UPA dispensation.
On economic policy, +1 to FDI in defense manf
+1 to FDI in other sectors
+1 to Japan, china investments
+1 to US investments
+1 Make in India
+1 to bare bones budget
+2 to diesel deregulation (easy choice but it is better to be lucky)
Gains:
Confidence restored in market, FDI, and public perception
common man is more hopeful
Really bad decisions
Smriti Irani at HRD - Only good news is Namo is served well
Arun Jaitley at defence - this is just plain foolish - again this is modi running defense from PMO with coverup by Arun J. In any case, this is a poor decision. I hope someone tells Modi to shape up and allow defense be run by a competent person. In USA, defense drives manufacturing, research and employment in addition to national security. India should learn from that.
black money:
Bombastic promises but likely to be a big disappointment. BJP is a party of banias among others. Who stashes black money outside India? Aggrawals, marwaris, guptas, etc. BJP cannot survive if it fights banias.
swatch bharat:
yes. we should have volunteer programs. But volunteering is useful where fundamental needs are already taken care of by govt and society only needs a citizen effort to clean up minor problems in their backyards. How can volunteers clean up the whole filthy India? Keep it for photo ops.
Current future reading:
if GDP grows, Modi wins. If economy falters, modi, bjp and India are doomed. I am still betting on Indian economy to get stronger in 2015 (6%) and in 2016 (7%).

This heavey-handed approach is not limited defense, pretty much every portfolio be external affairs, home or railways, with the exception of HRD, appears to have not much say or completely invisible.
