Happens if you gave too much work for your tail bone after a long time.

Yep. Driving all day. Another 3.5 hour to go. Am good so far. At some random pizza hut in pa I laid down on a booth for 5-10 minutes, much to he kids' embarrasment. That helped. Otherwise, time kat gays by flipping radio channels and singing along. Other than a 25 minute traffic jam, things going smooth so far. There is a tire air pressure warning which I will fix when I get out of this gas station restroom, which btw is cleaner than ANY restroom in ny/nj combined.
Hubster went out to scout the unflooded roads. So will get to that stress when I get there.

Reached home! Phew. Had to do a couple of detours coz of fallen trees and flooded lakes and rivers which costed another 30 minutes.
But made it. Now the challenge is to return the car tomorrow before 7:00 am at the Newark airport and somehow reach work. The trains won't be running tomorrow. Oiyoi.

Oh. I forgot to mention. Happened on Ohio and she was a woman. But am no longer a ticket virgin. To get a good headstart I was going at like 90-100 mph. Acting totally like a left lane bully. I brought down my eta by one hour in the first four hours. And then I thought I should slow down, which I did. But temporarily I went overboard and there she was.
Clocked me at 88 mph on the limit of 70. Damage $135. No points on the license, so I can continue to act ticket coy. But anyway, a huge mental support coz had I seen eta of 2:00 am I would have been intimidated enough to get a motel in pa or so.

Nice...very impressive - considering the conditions.
I've done this before too - alone - in a one-way rental. Your OH ticket experience is not isolated - they love to ticket the brownfolks right after Toledo/Perrysburg.

Whatz so bad about this? I once drove from Newark NJ to Milwaukee WI in one day. Started at 730 am. Reached 11 PM. Used chevy with 130K miles but never broke on the way. It was great. Plus expense paid ;-)

I have driven to all 4 corners of the country - but Alaska. My recent non-stop overnighter to Philly and continue next day to ATL. I am looking at another ATL-KC non-stop drive later in the month.
Actually, it is not bad at all - if you have to. It is very safe to pull into any Truck stop and take a couple of hrs nap. You can see a lot of folks doing that (nothing to be embarrassed).
It is stupidity to speed more than 8 mph. Troopers love to give out of staters tickets. But, there is are some tips to observe while driving to "feel" the invisible cops. One will learn as one drives more. Oh another thing no point in overspeeding. Bcz in the big picture, the 90 mpher and the 65 mpher all reach the destination pretty much at the same time. Driving even 5 MPH over the "Traffic speed" puts an enormous amount of strain and makes you tired. the key is to drive just 2 to 3 mph SLOWER than the traffic speed, which frees your mind totally and no strain whatsoever - as it becomes the other guy's problems to change lanes and watch out for cops etc. One can drive all day and still feel fresh. Believe me - I do 12 to 15 hr drives very casually and do it once a month on avg.
Anyway Tracy...now you are a true american and you are eligible to buy a Winebago.

we've driven, non stop, kolkata-kanpur a couple of times. win win! the four lane NH is usually empty and we cruise at a comfortable speed of 70 miles per hour (110 kms per hour). we enjoy the countryside, lunch at dhabas, i use their restrooms, we flip fm channels, play antakshari and just chill. next day are in delhi with a car at our disposal. of course the only times i have done this is when train tickets were impossible. ok, there's a chauffeur too in this equation. and yes, sometimes we halt at varanasi instead.

Re: Tailbone
India is getting there... With 4-lane highways and with 3 people in the car it becomes economically competitive with train and plane, and not to mention the flexibility to change plans and not having to plan months ahead. The gas stations are good and I am sure the rest rooms/areas will develop more as well.
The only thing is the use of the 4-lanes by motorcycles, mopeds and the perennial driving habits of the truckers and the general public. Seen cars drive in the wrong direction, make U-turn anywhere, etc...etc.. there are no "state" troopers to monitor these poopers.

in TWs case, TW is the chauffeur.
in your case, your chauffeur is your chauffeur.
so, again, what are we talking about here?

the point is that your chauffeur drove from kolkata to delhi. you were a passenger in a car on a third world country road.
in tw's case, tw was the one driving halfway across the country albeit in a non-third world country.
hello to you too.

If HK travelled at 70 MPH on 4-lane expressway, then the drive should have been just as esay or difficult as in the US. It could not have been tougher.

that would be true if he can be at highway from one end to another without getting into any secondary roads ever and if highway does not have any crossings or lights or bumpers or slow down cehck posts.

this highway is a part of the golden quadrilateral project. national highway 2
the crash breakers (galvanized, formed steel fences) are missing in this pic. but they are there for the most part. yes, there are no detours, crossings, lights or bumpers. all major crossings are bridged.
edit. NH2 is a tolled highway.

Clearly R2 has not traveled on the new 4-lane highways. As I mentioned in earlier posts - the 4-lane highways are comparable to the Western highways - except for the desis riding motorcyces, mopeds, lorries, buses, cars, etc...and ignoring highway laws.
The idea behind highways and highway traffic is that most traffic should travel within a narrow speed range to prevent bottlenecks and keep flow smooth and fast. Indian public does not understand that concept. So the moped wallahs also exercising his rights to drive "freely" on the "fast" highway (although he drives at 30 MPH max).

yes. this is a problem. once my wife was driving and a moped was coming from the opposite direction (wrong side) and skirting the topiary that divides the two sides. my wife, a bit confused, leaned the car into him. though she did not touch him, the guy, clearly frightened, threw up his hands! we sped away without looking back to check if had fallen.

shrubbery/grass/jungle....whatever. on some stretches (for instance, durgapur to dhanbad), they have actually developed it into a flowery garden with fences to ward off animals. i also that understand there are big data cables laid underneath.

Yeah. They travel wrong side all the side. In case of minor bumps if you point that out they say, 'ha to wrong ja raha tha to kya jaan le loge?!'
