Marco Polo
..on Netflix. first two episodes were slow. episode 3 heated up:-) love it so far. The guy who plays Kublai Khan wows. Everyone else pales in comparison including the guy who plays the lead. I have not had the time to look up the casting. one of these days....
where did they shoot this series, I wonder? mind blowing locales and some very strong imagery that bring to life, the era of Kublai khan. Definitely for mature audience.

I saw first 4 episodes. More naked bodies than necessary. Agree with your assessment. E1 and e2 are slow but picked up in e3. Women assassinater drama was interesting. However I do not feel compelled to find time to watch subsequent episodes.

not sure if you can watch episodes at random, but i enjoyed watching six feet under on amazon prime. it's depressing at times, but i've never watched anything with such an intense focus on death. loved it.

some beautiful photography and expensive sets and costumes. the violence is not unexpected but the acting lacks spark and it is difficult to like any of the characters in the show. there's tons of naked asian women with their ghastly boyish bodies. I skipped around for about 10 mins and I couldn't take more than that.
I came across this from pbs: two guys following the footsteps of marco polo and it is definitely a pleasure to watch. you may like it also.

another very enjoyable movie if you're a fan of nigel hawthorne, and available not on amazon prime, but amazon instant video - the madness of king george.
