Re: Falling Oil Prices and Goa
This article expresses the typical one-dimensional thinking by the author.
If the falling oil prices are going to reduce the number of tourists in Goa from the oil-rich Russia (as the Russians have less money to spend overseas), isn't the number of tourists in Goa from the oil-poor places (including India) going to increase as people in those places spend less money on cheaper gasoline (in their cars etc.) and spend the savings (on petrol) on vacations etc. in places like Goa (even drive to Goa using the cheaper gas / petrol)?

Very valid point. However the author is just pointing out the Russian misery. Your alternate analysis of impact on goa is very logical. I do know if it will turn out to true or not but if goa can attract Indian tourists, it is good for their economy long term.

Yes, TBT-ji. It's a very good opportunity, the falling oil prices, for the Goan Govt. and businesses to attract more tourists from within India than the small number of overseas tourists (from Russia etc.) they might have lost recently (due to the falling oil prices).truthbetold wrote:Sevaji
