The sign should have been in Kannada.

So others (spectators and those watching the parade on TV) wouldn't find out where the float is from?nevada wrote:The sign should have been in Kannada.

But that is still better, 70% in U.P. able to read the Hindi sign on the Karnataka float, than nobody in U.P. able to read that sign in Kannada.

There can be a banner in English(not Hindi) for such people.Seva Lamberdar wrote:So others (spectators and those watching the parade on TV) wouldn't find out where the float is from?nevada wrote:The sign should have been in Kannada.

I thought that the Karnataka float was the best this year. Telangana's is showing the personality of KCR - tum sub bhaago, is what it is saying!

I welcome this OVERT imposition of Hindi by successive Union governments. They should even remove languages other than Hindi (displayed in smaller fonts to emphasize their lower status) from the side..
It helps in convincing non Hindians of how they are treated as second class citizens in Indian Union..

Yes it was there, not visible in this photo but I have seen it. You can see kannada on the side in Karnataka's float.
Anyways, it is a good thing that Hindi is openly imposed and being touted as the ONLY language of India and no other language is worthy enough for display in what is supposed to be India's republic day.. That makes our job simpler.

Re: Photo Karnataka float at YOUR Repub Day Parade
Thanks,
TN could have boycotted the parade, and issued a statement why.
Or, put a very large sign Velga Tamil in Tamil (as seen on Chennai Corporation office). Most like ly India would not have permitted it. Then TN could have boycotted the parade and dragged that float in Chhennai to show people whaT iNDIA Would not allow.
Thats what Annadurai did. At the 1968 World Tamil Conference in Chennai, India issued a stamp for it. Anna was to trelease it at the conference. Seeing that it had only Hindi and English (no Tamil), he refused to release it at the conference. It was never officially released although some stamps were sold
