socio economic and caste statistics
Arun jaitley released portions of a census report that provides information about Indian household incomes by castes and/or caste groups. It shows, as expected, Indian rural poverty is much more extensive than previously provided data. Sc/st poverty levels levels are much larger than previously understood.
Current poverty level is poorly defined and mask the extent of Indian misery. % of people below poverty line was reported as below 25% but if a more appropriate living standards scale is applied, only 20 to 30% Indians enjoy a tolerable standard of living. Another 20% to 30% have a chance and are hoping to reach tolerable levels in future.
India probably has an underclass between 40% to 60% of its population. Most of these people are probably living in Indian villages untouched or underserved by economic progress. Most of them are likely to be geographically located in interior parts of India such as chattisgarh, bihar, up, Mp and rajasthan. Other States probably have large tracts of poverty regions such as rayalaseema and telangana in old ap state. Another hidden statistic that should come out is the fact that 80 to 95% of sc/st household are still dirt poor and are poorly served by India's economic progress.
The good news is India is finally acknowledging reality as it exists allowing truth to direct future action. However govt. Is still holding back lot of census data for narrow political interest.
I will continue to search for more detailed statistics as they become available. I invite you to add any related information. Feel free to challenge any numbers

Re: socio economic and caste statistics
Another proof that the Govt. help to people (including in education and jobs) should be on the basis of economic necessity and not caste, considering the poverty pervades all other considerations (caste, region, religion etc.).

Oh! my god. Stupid UPA and its selfish interests. Modiji, who has no family or kids, would never let such things happen.truthbetold wrote:Arun jaitley released portions of a census report that provides information about Indian household incomes by castes and/or caste groups.
