The Pakis send terrorists across the border; their army has been firing across the LoC targeting Indian positions, and has violated the ceasefire 21 times this month already.

And what has been the oh-so-manly BJP government's response? Joyfully highfiving over Pakistan finally agreeing to participate in the NSA-level talks on August 23-24!

Oh, I almost forgot: to punish the Pakis for their wicked wicked ways, we are not going to give them any mithai on Independence Day!! Now that should bring those villains to their senses!

Are you kidding about not giving mithai on Independence Day(s)?
India-Pakistan relations are like a long term usual marriage which invariably involves a lot of bickering and fighting, but come anniversary time and both the partners are ready for celebration and the exchange of good wishes and gifts.

Unkil, this is not that spineless UPA government. When you mess with Mr 56 inches, you get a manly response!

Isn't that a reaction on the part of Indian BSF whose soldiers recently, at Eid celebrations a month or so ago, had offered greetings and sweets to the Pakistani counterparts at the border but the latter refused to accept them and reciprocate in kind?

You're missing the point, Unkil. Under the UPA 2 government, the BSF folks would have simply cried into their pillows when the Paki rangers refused their greetings and sweets during Eid.

But now that we have a manly man at the help, things are *very* different. Now, when the Pakis send across terrorists and fire on us, we now respond in kind, by refusing to offer them any sweets or greetings on Independence Day. Now let's see who cries in their pillows!

Probably quite smart and considerate too ... no point in offering a good wish or a gift to someone who is likely to feel offended by the friendly gesture and might even reject it.

Very true Unkil. It is v important to be considerate of Paki feelings and withold mithai in case they get offended and reject our offerings. This is how manly men treat a hostile nation that sends terrorists across the border and also keeps violating the ceasefire across the LoC. Jai hind!

Yeah! they're considerate towards Pakistan because they always copy them while showing hatred towards fellow citizens of India.

Ayyo..we took bullets and every indignity Pakistan heaped on us these last few days just so Namo could fulfill his craving for peace talks at the NSA level meeting. But now, a day before the talks, it looks like it's not going to happen. The suspense is killing. Will the talks be called off? Will Namo quietly capitulate just so he can get his talks?? Watch this space!

It is a fact that every round of talks between India and Pakistan attracts media attention but the forthcoming round of talks between NSAs Ajit Doval and Sartaj Aziz, scheduled for 23-24 August in Delhi has been reduced to a theatre of the absurd. So much so that it has overshadowed the actual meeting, if it does take place!
The atmosphere has now been vitiated by deliberate leaks to media to ensure a win-lose outcome, which in diplomatic terms actually becomes a lose-lose outcome.

Is this what Modi wanted? If so, why reach out for a bilateral meeting at Ufa? Why promise that he would visit Pakistan for the SAARC summit in 2016? Modi is perfectly justified in putting forwards his terms for the dialogue but India cannot impose it on Pakistan either by clever drafting or by media driven diplomacy. It requires patient planning and convincing Pakistan that the outcome will be mutually beneficial. Scoring victory by defeating the other side works in battle field; a political negotiation is not a zero sum game. Modi’s neighbourhood diplomacy requires that he find a better way of managing relations with Pakistan.

Plain and simple: No country will let an arch enemy freely meet a separatist group inside its country, something that iSlamic congress initiated and allowed for 25 long years as part of Vote bnk politics. Only Pakistani lovers and agents will object to Modi/BJP putting a stop to this non-sense.

There is not going to be any peace with Pakistan until Pakistan gets Kashmir - and then, Delhi. So play similar dodging games with Paki for international Tamasha, while responding to Paki firing to 3-fold retaliation and spreading/aiding Baluch rebels, MQM cadre and establishing anti-paki groups in Gilgit and Baltistan. Apply the 1=10 equation to any Pakistani aggression.

May be you are right...But look who you are supporting and who Cong(iSlam) has to offer? an LKG-level Pappu (who needs a cheat sheet for his 1 min talk) and a semi-comatose Madam Mohan Singh (not to mention an Italian Looter).
