Latest high-society Drama in India
... If it weren't a real-life tragedy involving the murder of a young woman, the story of Indrani Mukerjea would be dismissed as a collective of the coarsest soap opera tropes: a dead body discovered years after the crime, a driver who claims his employer ordered him to kill, step-siblings who began dating, a daughter presented to the world as a sister, an ex-husband who doubles up as an alleged partner in crime, a current husband who says he is realising that he "spent years in the dark".
forget Tharoor and Tejpal...this is even more of a high-level soap

>>>This is a very convoluted story. Even Bollywood couldn't make this up, but for someone who was/is a business tycoon, Pete seems to be easily bamboozled. Anyway, If there is no dna evidence and the evidence was disposed off, I am not sure how they could have tied the woman Indrani to the crime. The confession seems self-incriminatory, but I don't know all the facts or the Indian legal protocols to establish guilt.Marathadi-Saamiyaar wrote:

Ya, in the fullness of time, she's going to be acquitted. Until then, she will be hung, drawn and quartered in the media. She's done everything wicked that a woman could do which would raise Indian hackles: have 2 kids out of wedlock, abandon them with 'rents in Assam when they were 3 and 4 yrs respectively, marry and divorce a man after having another kid, introduce her original kids as her siblings, remarry a high profile exec 15 years her senior and keep him in the dark on her past and then for evil, unknown reasons, kill her daughter....

are you saying all of those are admired behavioral traits in other societies?

sensational stuff but no southern angle so less interesting.
anyhow, there is no evidence that the mom did it, just an accusation by the driver and speculation aka "indian news." i don't believe this story cuz it's way too easy to blame the mom. she must've made a lot of enemies in the media.

i also have a suspicion that Indrani might have nothing to do with the murder. She could have done it at a 1000 other times, if she had wanted to. Why and how the ex-second husband come in out of the blue..? There lies the key to this mystery.
P.S. we can make a movie with 3 husbands from different states and religions and make this one super-mega hit movie and tout is as representative of the modern, progressive, secular India.

Yes! Gulashan Devaiyya is a very good actor. I've seen him another film at South Asian Film Fest(forgot the name of the film) with Nirmat Kaur(the woman in Lunch Box).Beatrix Kiddo wrote:pravalika nanda wrote:Beatrix Kiddo wrote:wish they make a movie on this.

>>>The step-sister/ brother doesn't make it southern enough for you? Ok, Pete's nickname is Bubba and they eat grits with chole. There you go. The mom seems to be a piece of work and probably did have something to do with it. Absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence as the saying goes, but a Johnny Cochran could get her off .. err, I mean in the legal sense.pravalika nanda wrote:Marathadi-Saamiyaar wrote:

Rajalakshmi is not in the same league as Indrani
"Initial inquiries revealed that Rajalakshmi had been married to a man named Rajasekhar for a while and they had separated. She then got married to Suresh, a relative who worked in a private firm, a few years ago and the couple moved into a house in Mogappair.
They allegedly had frequent quarrels as he tortured her and she left him too, police found.
Rajalakshmi then got a job with Panimalar Engineering College where she met Sambasivam. The two became friends and began seeing each other. Rajalakshmi recently moved to the polytechnic in Choolaimedu, police said. "
Such a sad end to such a freespirited woman.
But tell me all knowing saamiyar, why do the wives of the men that the freespirited women have affair with, do not appreciate the freespiritedness that the experts of Coffehouse appreciate so much?
