shoulder crack
when I was younger, and lighter, my bro used to do this to me. pick me up on his back... like we would stand with our backs to each other, and cross our elbows. Then he would bend forward, thus automatically raising me off the floor, and I would raise my knees up. Instant crack in the back, felt soooooo good and relaxing. some kinda chiropractic kinda therapy. looked dangerous but wasn't so.
have always had a bad posture, and given that I sit a big part of the day... every time I go for a massage they go - 'oh your shoulders have so many knots', or 'oh, your shoulders are so tight'. And then they go after them with a vengeance, while giving me home remedies. 'take a daily hot bath', or 'stand against a wall and raise your hands up like this'.
as a remedy and trying to avoid getting expensive massages, I bought a strapped shoulder massager recently. it's cool. has rotating balls, which seem to work, and it also radiates heat. so all good there, but sometimes I wonder if it makes me sore and if I should rest that part.
Ever since I got my last massage last month, my shoulder, close to the neck area hurt when I have sat too long. As an instinct, I stretch myself, raise my hands, and tilt slightly to the right. and it *clicks*. something clicks in the right neck/shoulder/upper back part. Most satisfying sound and feeling ever. I then lean towards my left side, click doesn't happen always. Then I roll my shoulders back and forth, and feel slightly aligned. and the pain also dissipates.
But that's it. This happens only the first time in the day that I do it. doesn't happen for the rest of the day. I do stretch and roll, but no click.
kinda getting addicted to the click... how do you make it happen everytime... or you shouldn't?

Re: shoulder crack
sounds like what you need to do is see an orthpod, I think an x-ray will suffice to make a diagnosis, and they might recommend physical therapy. If they do not, you must make that request and get a prescription for it. It's likely that PT will be covered by insurance and will be of better use to you than getting massages. Good luck and take your calcium and vit d.Beatrix Kiddo wrote:when I was younger, and lighter, my bro used to do this to me. pick me up on his back... like we would stand with our backs to each other, and cross our elbows. Re: shoulder crack
I've never seen anyone get cured by physical therapy. Medicos keep recommending it for some reason.
If anything PT provides temporary relief/ relaxation but so does massage.
A lot of massage parlours accept insurance. I used to pay $45 for a 60 min massage. That's better than PT.
Happy cracking.

Not to sidetrack (as you know that is not my nature)...is this 6 feet under is real ? how deep do they dig ?does it have to be 6 feet - in all religions ? in that case, what is its significance ?

Re: shoulder crack
docs usually begin with giving you instructions on the home exercises. PT is covered, but apart from initial consultation fee, you have to wait for a HUGE deductible before they begin covering 80% of it.. and then they limit it to 12 sessions a year, you will likely never hit that deductible.
