i pinky, you brain?

** editing our dna is probably around the corner. expect china to go at it first and raise super-mutant brillaint and beautiful chinese citizens to take over the world - there is no better way to put it. the world will start looking like "pinky and the brain."
probably before i turn 50 there will be options for gene therapy for diseases resulting from single gene mutations, such as sickle cell anemia. This kind of thing is useful because sicklers pose a huge financial burden on healthcare and they themselves suffer greatly. it will indeed be good to have strong bones and less alzheimer's and accelrate wound healing with super-fibrinogen molecules or a gene that will make you resistant to multi-drug-resistant bacteria. or or insert genes that will allow a woman to be fertile for a decade more rather than have her take a bunch of fertility pills which can have terrible side effects.
on the ethical front the qs that arise once the technique is finessed and we decide which treatments to offer: who will be able to afford it? what happens as we get older and these mutant kids with IQs of 150 become capable of doing our jobs by the time they're 25 and then we find that we're 60 yrs old and out of commission? and also if i don't have a mutant super-kid what happens to its future?

actually though i haven't seen propa's video which feaatures a heme-oncologist, i just realized that with this kind of therapy the best jobs if you want to be in healthcare and biomedical will be in genetic counseling, engineering, and heme-oncology. i suspect salaries in heme-onc will soar to an easy 400 k starting. CUz think of it, what kind of physician is best-positioned to actually deliver the tehrapy? heme-oncologists. cards aregoing to go out of business. all they do is caths and stents, it will become pretty boring and outdated to do the plumbing in the next 30 years. actually, i'm glad i'm not married to card. it gives me freedom to hunt for a heme-oncologist. okay, off i go hunting.

i mean i haven't seen the video propa posted in full - i just heard stem cells and cancer cells and it features a sleepy-looking, hairy, short individual. some might even say that from the outside it looks pretty soporific.
for those of you who're crushed for time, teh video i posted is far more interesting and features an attractive, older woman in a mini-skirt and high heels. you decide which one to watch.

actually if anything like it comes to pass, the govt should make it available to all its citizens, just like vaccinations, otherwise it would result in tremendous inequities.
