The inconvenient truth: There's no easy military answer to war on ISIS
http://www.cnn.com/2015/11/17/opinions/isis-no-military-answer-paton-walsh/index.htmlOne small historical comparison to ISIS is the Khmer Rouge.
That regime didn't attack the West, granted, but it was equally nihilistic and savage during its brief rule in Cambodia, after the turmoil of the Vietnam War.
After years of horror, the Khmer Rouge did eventually find itself isolated, unable to basically feed the populations it brutalized, and slowly collapsed as a result.
That takes time, as Obama says -- and that's not something those on the streets of Europe's capitals want to give ISIS right now.

May be, Obama can cooperate with Putin. The latter is asking if the West is willing to allow Assad to continue. If Obama agrees, a united attack by France/US/Russia will be quite potent against ISIS. (After achieving the goal, the US can find an excuse to turn against Assad.)

Typical iSlamo-Leftist smudging. Comparing ISIS and Khemer rouge is insulting the reader's intelligence. KR had little chance of surviving long-term wheras the ISIS is based on a 1500 yr old Koran. ISIS is certain to spawn other groups even if it is annihilated. LTTE, KR, Red Army, IRA believe in a specific objective - geographic or economic, and countries and media called them out as such. But, the Islamic terror groups - ALL of them - swear by this 1500 yr document with the single objective goal of conquering the world and bringing the entire world under Sharia. ALL the muslims agree on this ultimate goal - although many of them might disagree with the approach, as they view it as detrimental to spreading iSlam.
Unless and until - the media and the countries - the Islam and Koran bases are recognized as the root cause, the iSlamic terror will never be eradicated.
