Although Sandra Bullock has enjoyed great fortune in her movie career her love life has been a succession of disappointments.
It began with actor tate Donovan, now 50, who became her fianc© in her 20s.
'I chased after him like a dog," she once told me, frankly. 'After chasing him for a year I had to convince him for the next four years that I was the best he was going to get." But he was not convinced enough and dumped her.
She began an on-off romance with actor Matthew McConaughey, now 43, after working with him on the film A time to Kill in 1996.
She moved out of los Angeles to Austin, texas - still her preferred location - to be near him. they have remained friends - he is now married with three children - but the romance simply faded.
Instead there was a relationship with musician Bob Schneider, also based in texas. there was also a low-key relationship with actor Ryan gosling, 16 years her junior.
'Some of my relationships were three or four years so they were like mini-marriages in a way," she told me. 'It was too much trial and error."
But marriage at 40 to the multi-tattooed Jesse James came as a surprise. Bullock was his third wife and few gave it a chance of long-term success.
The cynics were proved right.

now watching 'The Proposal'. Amazing acting by Sandra Bullock. I think i am going to end up watching most of her movies.
