Chennai is a shitty and congested hell hole today by any reckoning. Nobody should have any delusions about that. Crime only adds to it.

Agree....this is only going to get worse when the Bihari migrant workers apply their "skills" to the people of Madras.

In any case, I dont like the concrete jungles that are coming up everywhere. The apartments look like prisons.

sure, it ain't 10021 but then you will complain on miss music academy with mint padmanabhan's food and other sabhas, milling around kabhali and parthasarathy temples, old woodlands at edward elliots road, landmark bookshop,walking in the beach, sundal, gandhinagar grand sweets, spencer plaza etc

it's more insidious city than insecure city.

what music academy? the one that's completely disappeared behind a monster flyover?

the people living there don't seem to share my disappointment about the city. that's what i find even more bothersome. i think for them the changes have happened gradually that they don't recognize the descent into hell. or they live inside little cocoons where everything is brought to them, that they're oblivious to the blight outside. or maybe i've just been away too long.

Just wondering. Isn't this true of all Indian major cities? Not trying to minimize any one's concern. I am also aware individuals who posted are deeply associated with chennai and remember the the good old days I remember the quaint T Nagar streets with tree filled homes and wide roads, I experienced on a long visit to the then Madras.

Do you think Chennai is less livable than Bangalore? Explain your reasoning.

Can Chennai be saved before it follows Bejing?
