It is well known that eminent brahmin Parashuram had killed all the kshatriyas. So how come we still have kshatriyas amongst us?

He killed only the Crown Prince Kshatriyas. Not all Kshatriyas.

Parshuram’s father, the Rishi Jamadagni, had received a cow from a king of the Haihaiya clan. The king’s son Kritarjuna or Kartaviryarjuna demanded the cow back. When Jamadagni refused, the king took the cow by force, angering Parshuram, who refused to take things lying down. He raised an axe and hacked the king to death. The king’s sons retaliated by beheading Jamadagni. An infuriated Parshuram went on to slaughter five clans of warriors, some say five generations of warriors, creating five lakes of blood. These lakes were later filled and became the dreaded battlefield of Kurukshetra.
It is said that Parashuram continued killing every Kshatriya in his path until there were no more warriors left on earth. To restore the Kshatriya clans the widows had to marry priests. There is one story of a man called Nari-kavacha, meaning ‘one whose armor was made of women’. He survived by hiding in women’s quarters. All women went to this one surviving warrior and from this coward were born all future warriors. Perhaps stories such as these were propaganda created by Rishis to insult kings who did not behave as Rajas are supposed to, as custodians rather than masters of their kingdoms.

If he killed all the Crown Prince Kshatriyas, why did he not kill Lord Rama? Isn't there a face-to-face encounter of Parashuram and Lord Rama in the Ramayana?

And by the way, how could a face to face encounter of Parashuram and Lord Rama take place when both are regarded as avatars of Lord Vishnu? What, exactly, was going on?

So according to your logic when Rama or Krishna were dwelling here on Earth then Vishnu was not available in his abode Vaikuntam. If this is so you need to upgrade your knowledge of Avatar.

How about that, a brahmin Parashuram killing kshatriyas according to a legend? Shouldn't kshatriyas therefore demand and get caste based quotas in education and jobs these days, like other quota caste people presently, because of their killing / abuse long ago (according to a legend) by a brahmin named Parashuram?Thanjai Nalankilli wrote:It is well known that eminent brahmin Parashuram had killed all the kshatriyas. assumptions, assumptions. i never said anything about Vishnu. I well know that Vishnu continued to exist while Parashuram and Lord Rama were face to face with each other. The standard explanation is that "portions of Vishnu" were present in both Lord Rama and Parashuram, but isn't this rather silly? "Portions of Vishnu" it seems took part in an encounter with one another. This is surely a childish story.

should brahmins demand caste based quotas because the learned brahmin Ravana was killed by the kshatriya R.C. Singh (Ramachandra Singh)?

this is from the encyclopedia brittanica:
Parashurama, ( Sanskrit: “Rama with the Ax”)
Parashurama one of the 10 avatars (incarnations) of the Hindu god Vishnu.
The Mahabharata and the Puranas record that Parashurama was born to the Brahman sage Jamadagni and the princess Renuka, a member of the Kshatriya class. When Jamadagni suspected Renuka of an unchaste thought, he ordered Parashurama to cut off her head, which the obedient son did. Later, to avenge the murder of his father by a Kshatriya, he killed all the male Kshatriyas on earth 21 successive times (for, each time, their wives survived and gave birth to new generations) and filled five lakes with their blood. In the Ramayana he encounters another avatar, Rama, who wins the bow of the god Shiva, which Parashurama had given to Rama’s father-in-law. Rama later subdues Parashurama when challenged to a fight. Parashurama is the traditional founder of Malabar and is said to have bestowed land there on members of the priestly class whom he brought down from the north in order to expiate his slaughter of the Kshatriyas. Temples dedicated to Parashurama are found throughout India.

how could Rama subdue Parashurama when both Rama and Parashurama are avatars of Vishnu? This seems to be a conspiracy against Parashurama and brahmins.

in another words, Parashurama was an immigrant from North India to South India.
