Dharma Sandeham: was it ok for Ravana to abduct Sita? Empty Dharma Sandeham: was it ok for Ravana to abduct Sita?

The learned brahmin Ravana abducted Sita after Lord Rama cut off the nose of his sister Surpanakha. (Earlier Surpanakha had wanted to be Rama's lover, but Rama had refused and for some reason preferred to cut off the nose of Surpanakha.)

Ravana wanted to teach Rama a lesson and so he abducted Sita. But he never made any forcible advances on Sita or make any attempt to force himself on Sita. This needs to be appreciated.

Ravana's Lanka has been hailed as "Sone ki Lanka", that is Lanka (made) of Gold, indicating it must have been a prosperous and wealthy kingdom. This means that Ravana must have been a good king, that is to say an able administrator.

I am disappointed that Lord Rama felt the need to kill Ravana and to destroy Lanka. He could have rescued Sita and returned to Ayodhya without killing Ravana and destroying Lanka.
