Lol. Looks like you ran in the wrong direction this time to post this.

But ya, I know what you mean. My dad was like that. Could not understand simplest of shayaris. Always mocked people who did that. So imagine his plight when one of his samdhis turned out to be a poet who would break into shayaris at every topic, even serious ones like wedding preparations. Actually that uncle maintained a notebook full of those. Was most fun to see dad everytime uncle recited something. Full blank face. And at the end he would do a nod and a quiet Hmm. Sometimes, he dared ask for translations. No, this lack of open appreciation didn't stop uncle. It was all too funny.

haha; i am with your father on this one. i for life of my cannot understand the beauty in poetry. i think most people nod and say "waah waah kya baat hai" a split second after the poet finishes his recital just to pretend they understand poetry. category b) from that thread over the weekend.
