Test matches to T20s: metamorphosis?
trigger warning: carromS hahaha ..excuse me hahaha carromS veterans should not read this post
"Skill and finesse is going out and it is becoming a power-oriented game - which is all right, but the ground sizes and the kind of wicket quality need to be readdressed"
true - almost muscle power determines the winner. it's become increasingly tough for the bowlers, almost chance determines their success
interesting idea on changing the ground size!

larger, I should think.
Also, on changing the rules, I like REHANSOHAILCA's below: if you hit a six you are out; just like in tennis, and that demands good control in hitting the ball and its flight.
"Especially playing in the IPL, having played in Australia and Bangladesh and other places, the grounds in India are turning out to be of a size where it makes a batsman believe that even a quarter of a decent hit would clear the fence, which is definitely putting the spinners in a bit of risk, in terms of bowling aggressive speeds, lines and lengths."
"There is a natural length that every bowler hits, but you have to change the lengths because the ground is smaller. In the IPL it has become increasingly clear that even the spinners will have to bowl short, because most grounds offer a very small straight boundary."

Batsmen use both hands and can move anywhere in the crease. Similar flexibility is not given to the bowlers. With smaller grounds, modern bats, the rules should be changed for both (a) calling wides and (b) LBWs when a batsman adopts Switch hit or Reverse hit/sweep.

I have a very old idea of testing the skill level of batsmen in T20s (taking a leaf out of our playing days, when we were children). Just take the "SIX" out of T20s, or limit the number of "SIXES" a side can hit in a T20 match. In fact, it should be made a rule that if a batsman hits a ball that carries all the way over the fence, the batsman would be considered "Out". In that case, whole set of batsmen's skill levels would be tested rather than pure power-hitting. This idea, however, may not go down well with funky minded fans, whose 90% cricket entertainment is derived from "SIX" hitting.
