Guns for self defense are pro-life. Simple. Smile

PS: Most pro-lifers are not against contraception. And I for one believe parents like those of the gorilla boy are better off not breeding.

Contrary to what Il Professore states, the government has wide discretionary powers. The no fly list is one such example. They offer no explanation whatsoever to the people on the list and they are simply denied boarding. Let's see what comes out of these proposals.

it's not a perfect system, and yet we the american public have accepted the need for such a list and have given the government the tools to use such a list to keep the flying public safe. but we won't extend it to buying guns. i find that ludicrous. the no-fly list needs to be perfected and we need to ensure that people who don't belong there should never get on it in the first place, but the fact that it is currently not perfect is not reason enough to eliminate the list. the benefits to society as a whole outweigh the risks to a few. there are many examples in life where a few are inconvenienced and yet we accept whatever it is that is inconveniencing the few for the greater good. life is messy to begin with, and it is messier in an open society.

the other trade-off, i.e. accepting mass murder and loss of life and limb every two months or so is the one you seem to be willing to live with.

I gave you the figures already. The probability of mass shooting is miniscule compared to the total gun deaths. But hysterical drama queens like you will want more and more interference. Try cleaning up Chicago for a change than going after the low hanging fruit. This was a clear case of law enforcement failure. Yet you don't want to focus on that.

Parenthood is one of those thankless endeavor with varying degrees of vulnerability; there can't exist so called perfect parents, but statistically most parents have done a very reasonable job. judging parents is a very tricky endeavor, for their own progeny and particularly for the public at large, who should first question themselves whether they even qualify; anyways, these assessments keep changing drastically over time, depending on the vicissitudes of life - of both the parents, and the individuals who evaluate them.
