there appear to be some old recordings of karaikudi sambasiva iyer on youtube. as i said earlier, many contemporary vaiNikas trace their musical lineage back to him. he often sang along while he played composed music. i love the sonorous sound of the veeNai and the long lasting meendus. you can listen to a sample here:



for such a historically important artiste, these recordings appear to have been listened to so little!
