why? profound disappointment and embarrassment that a potential president of the country he chose to be a citizen of is more crass than anyone he's encountered in the poor and illiterate country of his birth.

he has difficulty accepting the truth that donny only reflects the crassness of the society he lives in; he is valiantly trying to set himself apart from that society. it is to his credit that he feels the embarrassment.

given that he is an american, there is no redemption from the crassness all around. practical advice for a tormented person: unfocus your eyes, look away, focus on your work.

daruwala's question was to HA asking him about his vehement love for drumpf, but you chose to direct your comments towards my opinions of drumpf's candidacy. i don't necessarily disagree with you  -- yes i am aghast, embarrassed, and tormented this political season, because it defies every reason i gave myself to finally abandon my indian citizenship to become an american citizen. i did not do so lightly and took a long time, long after i was eligible to apply for american citizenship,  despite so many practical inconveniences as a person who does a good deal of work funded by the united states government. this year my fundamental beliefs about the values that the US represents have been severely challenged.  however, i disagree with you that the society i live in is crass and that drumpf is a reflection of (all of) it.  let me remind you that only eight years ago, this very same society elected one of the most elegant, measured, and intellectual of politicians to emerge in our lifetimes.  i like to believe that this is a passing horrific moment in american political history.  that's the only way i can retain my sanity anyway.  i am going to try and take your advice about turning away and focusing on more productive things.  it's difficult, but i am going to try.
