Both items are in the to-do list for 2012, but no that is not what I meant. It has been an eventful and uncertain month or so, and next month or so isn't going to be any different. I'll tell details some other day.

Re: Thursday Cricket Quiz
good to know that. i hope you guys also post some questions so that i can be on the other side of the firing line.
ok, although today is not Thursday, i will pose one more question to give you all an idea of what kind of questions to expect from the quiz. an easy one, again.
A bowled tirelessly in his debut test but didn't have much to show in his Wickets column except B. While B is only a footnote in the history of cricket, A went on to become the best bowler for his side for a long time. B has a unique record in first-class cricket which was equaled by C in an international game against D who is E's son.
name A, B, C, D and E.

Re: Thursday Cricket Quiz
I used to post a lot of questions at another place. I shall post a few of those here as well, maybe tomorrow.
As for your question, I used backward reasoning. The sentence "C equalled it against D" made me think of 6 sixes.
D must be Stuart Broad who is Chris Broad's (E's) son. This means C is Yuvraj Singh and B, Ravi Shastri. I had to look up who had Ravi Shastri as his debut wicket and I get Shane Warne as A.
A = Shane Warne
B = Ravi Shastri (footnote?)
C = Yuvraj Singh
D = Stuart Broad
E = Chris Broad.

Re: Thursday Cricket Quiz
BW, you got that one right. ravi shastri annoyed me with his play when i was a kid. he would come down the track purposefully, would excite the viewers with the expectation that he would hit it out of the park, but then diffuse it the next moment by blocking it in the most immaculate way. ball after ball. over after over. it's personal. -_-

Re: Thursday Cricket Quiz
By the way, doesn't Sobers also have 6 sixes in an over in first class cricket and it isn't something unique to Shastri?

Like me, he is from Punjab and was also considered an all rounder. Both of us made our test debuts on Christmas Eve (he 7 years after me) and were dropped in the subsequent test. Both our fathers were the 'first' to do something. Who are we?

Anirudh?
The other guy debuted 7 years after Mohinder. The two fathers played for different countries and scored the first <something> for their respective countries.

Here's my contributioon bonus quiz question:
Q: What do you call a funny (physical comedy) jailed cricketer?

You are right but the record I had in mind was that Lala Amarnath and Nazar Muhammad were the first ones to score centuries for India and Pakistan.
