Hope Lord TenDucker retires gracefully before he also becomes a laughing stock. The readers comments about him after every test match are clear indications of things to come if he continues forever.

unbelievable. his reflexes, his mind and his flawed technique - all are failing him. he was indecisive and immediately knew what he had done and WALKED! this man never walks. of course, if it only it were in indian batsman, you would have seen people saying 'chickensh!t. scared of hostile bowling. does not have guts to face decent bowling. he was shivering. end of ponting?' yada yada yada.

the fact is, this man is not going to score any more useful runs in his career (unless generous indians let him come back in form which they always do with out-of-form batsmen). he is a goner. he is being selfish and egoistic to stick around so that he can chase some records and play in ENG next year. AUS batting is at it weakest i have known and their main culprit is their #4. a decent 30 or 40 by him would have won them today's game.

There was someone who commented on cricinfo...here is the gist. Ponting when he starts an innings has this tendency to fall over and get stuck in front of stumps. He got the benefit of doubt till now because of lack of UDRS. But not anymore Now it is in place he is not able to get past 20 and 30s. Unfortunately BCCI doesn't favor UDRS. Remember Bucknor who screwed us against Aussies many times.

Just read the comments in cricinfo or sify or any paper following a test match.

yes, i read the comment and that made me think. there is some truth to it. two years is too long a time to be out of form and expect to score. CA doesn't realize that. but since khawaja and hughes are not among runs, hussey is out of form and watson is nursing an injury, i think ponting will play IND. i think this decision to not use UDRS is going to cost us.

yes, there are many who are saying that he should retire because THEY are concentrating on his hundredth hundred and it's been 7 tests and a few WC matches since he hit the last one. it is not a crime. but impatient people don't realize that. public memory is short. he failed in ENG but one must remember that he scored heavily against SA (at home and away), against AUS (home and away) and against NZ (away). in his last five tests against SA, he has scored 4 hundreds. now, morkel and steyn are among the top 5 bowlers, they should remember.

here are the stats for 4 away series before the ENG 2011. if not the likes of SRT, RSD and VVSL, who else will score against these teams? raina? yuvraj singh? murli vijay? we haven't even found a permanent replacement for ganguly, leave alone these three.

SA 2010 36, 111, 13, 6, 146, 14 AGG 326
NZ 2009 160, DNB, 49, 64, 62, 9 AGG 344
AUS 2008 62, 15, 154*, 12, 71, 13, 153, 13 AGG 493
ENG 2007 37, 16, 91, 1, 82, 1 AGG 228
