I am probably one of the last NRI to see this "kolaveri" song. It is funny. Tanglish or Indian english is close to truth. Good experiment. Now wait for umpteen copies in all Indian versions.

I like experimentation in music. This is a good one. Different, funny and entertaining.

There are 2 women... if I am right. One is Shruthi Hasan (already 26 and hence likely to succeed in Bombay- which prefers women > 25) - more than in Madras.

The other woman is Soundarya - Dhanus's wife and Rajni's daughter. The music director - the thin 19 yr old BOY - is Soundarya's cousin.

So in essence this is a 20 gen creation. The skinny director wrote the lyrics in 30 min - apparently.

There are numerous copy cats already in many languages and making fun of people in many fields (Sharad pawar, etc..). Check You-tube.

The thing I liked about the song was Tanglish. It is making fun of ourselves and our english and our propensity to use certain endings like 'u' (ex: road becomes Roddu and car becomes Caru in Telugu).

The promo on you tube got 20 million hits including my children. Sure it has potential. It may be a gold mine.

actually Dhanush sounded pretty ordinary and that is part of the lure of the song. Rajani's connection may have helped but one should appreciate when one sees a good thing.

I think the lure of the song is the beat. The wording keeps up with it and is easy to hum. The english aspect makes it easy for a very broad audience.
