Gopichand: P V Sindhu belongs to neither AP nor Telangana; she belongs to India
HYDERABAD: PV Sindhu is being claimed by both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as their own, but the Olympic silver medalist's mentor Pullela Gopichand said that "she belongs" to India.
When a reporter sought Sindhu's views on the bragging rights, Gopichand+ jumped in to try and put an end to the regional controversy by simply stating, "Well, I can only say she (Sindhu) belongs to India."
Gopichand said it's great that various governments are praising and supporting her.
"We should celebrate the fact that all of them (states) want to be part of the celebration and support us."

Ms Sindhu's parents, both former volley ball players, sought to gently underscore the point. "I am happy that both states call her their daughter," said her father PV Ramana, who is from Telangana.
Her mother, P Vijaya, who belongs to Andhra Pradesh, added, "No doubt she is a Telugu speaking girl of both the states, but first she is a daughter of India."

I wonder why gopichand didn't say that sindhu belongs to no one but herself, and that she played badminton for india.Rashmun wrote:HYDERABAD: PV Sindhu is being claimed by both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as their own, but the Olympic silver medalist's mentor Pullela Gopichand said that "she belongs" to India.

let me guess the reasons why gopichand said that sindhu belongs to india:
1. the notion of doing something - playing and competing in badminton, for example - for one's own satisfaction, is not widely held in india; one does it for one's family, or because of tradition.
(gopichand knows that personal attainment and satisfaction are critical factors in attaining excellence, for othetwise, he couldn't have been a champion himself. why then did he waffle and say that sindhu belongs to india rather than to telengana, andhra, or better still, to herself? see below.)
2. gopichand, like most telugus, has been brainwashed by the northpeepals into believing that any expression of regional affinity or 'belonging' is "wrong," and the only 'belonging' that has merit is the 'belonging' to india.
(thus, we have the denial of teluguness, and the devaluation of the telugu language, culture, and identity. in a few generations, the telugus will cease to exist. that will be a terrible loss.)

she would be playing badminton for herself if she had won an amateur competition which nobody would have bothered with, but here she has different state governments from all over India lining up to give her huge financial rewards. Since the money is coming from all over India, doesn't the whole of India have some claim on her?
