Trump has been hard at work pissing the Chinese off. They own about 8% of our debt. If they dump all of it overnight, how much will the almighty USD go down? Any thoughts?

I doubt China will do anything drastic like that. They must be smart and I guess they need US for their businesses too. I hope Trump's new economic advisors are smart enough to advice him correctly!

The Chinese are a pragmatic people, but you never know when it comes to emotional issues like this. It (Taiwan) is the one thing they care about more than anything else.

Some of these don't have a high cost to the Chinese. They can buy Airbus jets and give preferential treatment to German auto companies. They can cozy up to Iran and North Korea in order to undermine American interests. 

If I thought Trump was actually being strategic about how he handles China, I might have supported the undoing of the One China policy. The problem is he is winging this based on his business interests. He made that unplanned phone call, and is doubling down as he often does when people criticize his mistakes.

China economy is a closed economy ..and can't shake it.

If China wants to retaliate US they have so many ways.

9.9 growth.
