The staying power of that tune is amazing. I wouldn't be surprised if they are still using that tune in their ads (assuming Liril soap still exists). For me, both these ads are 'newer' than the original, original Liril ad and that model was hotter than both these models. I was still at a single-digit age then and vaguely remember her now.

Also, amazing that Preity Zinta was once upon a time considered hot enough to be a soap ad girl. But notice that her bathing suit is more conservative and less revealing and certainly far less sexy than the ad from 12 years prior.

I don't remember the original Liril ad, this one is my first memory... yeah, PZ was a model before she got her acting break in 1998.

Maybe she's more covered coz she did the ad coz of her face, and she doesn't have a bikini body.

Apart, talking about DD, up until mid-late 80s doordarshan was pretty hip. their creative folks were really modern and talented people. It's only after that when it began reaching more rural areas, and the central govt. began having more control over it did it become conventional, and then it didn't need to change much coz later the urban areas were taken over by the cable anyway.

The original Liril girl (Karen Lunel) is now in her mid-50s and believed to have emigrated to New Zealand. Here's an interview.
