btw, maalti, a SI ? Maalathi ?  
balti in local SI vernacular means volte-face/flip-flop - but it's not the extended baalti, as in bucket.

haha, a NI... she was 5', he was 6'... she was actually 3-4 years senior to me (and was in college while i was still in high school), but in the same batch as one of my friends. they used to make poems on them, about how she chased him, and on their height differences, and how she broke his heart by getting engaged to someone else. I have forgotten most of it except the main line, 'o maalti, tu roi bhar bhar baalti', or 'o maalti, tune rulaya bhar bhar baalti'.

tamil balti sounds kinda like hindi 'palti'.
