Movie review: The Long Walk Home
This movie is set in the backdrop of the year-long successful bus boycott in Montgomery, AL that desegregated that southern city's bus system and brought Martin Luther King, Jr. to national attention. Sissy Spacek and Whoopi Goldberg play powerful roles as white housewife and her black maid. It is the story of one person who participated in the bus boycott, told from the eyes of a little girl. A wonderful movie about a pivotal time in American history. It is available on Netflix for instant viewing.

Re: Movie review: The Long Walk Home
Nice mini review Carvaka.
Since you are interested in these chapters in American history..would recommend watching "The Help"..watched in during my recent flight to India..although it's seen as a women's movie- think you will like it. It's funny (a comedy really) and based on some true events in the South.
Another movie portraying more brave in WW2- and will be released soon is the "Red Tails".
Speaking of the South..I would certainly recommend you visit the South..and walk the trails of the Civil Rights Movement..in Atlanta, Birmingham, Montgomery, Selma and other places..and if you ever decide to do it..and if you need good tour guides and hosts, let me know- will find you some of the best:)

Thanks Maria. I have never been south of the Mason Dixon line (Texas doesn't count) so I do have plans to visit those trails. I will take you up on that generous offer when I do.
