NI or SI?

initial googling didn't show much (ok i only checked top 2-3 links). all i learned was that it's from before hindu epics coz it's mentioned in the epics.

i personally think it was probably maharashtra... those peeps do the most elaborate ones still. had a lot of marathi friends growing up, and learned the art from them. My neighbor friends used to cover like 10x10 sq feet of their yard in rangoli during diwali.

WRONG!

Rangoli was brought into India by Babur. Akbar practiced Rangoli everyday. Aurangajeb perfected it. If not for Babur, India would not have Rangoli. For more information on this, ask Rashmun.

while we share mehendi with the arabs, rangoli is purely hindu. i don't think they ever adapted it either while they settled here.
