Got no raise whatsoever. Got that letter today. Same pay. No word of bonus either. Such a bummer.
Thinking if I should
1- hang around and wait for a layoff. or
2- move to better pastures.
Advantage of 1:
- I may get severance.
- I may get unemployment benefits.
- I will definitely get that 2-3 month welcome break that I been craving for for last 2-3 years.
Disadvantage of waiting for 1:
- layoff may not happen.
- I may get 'fired', so no severance, and no unemp. benefits.
- I may burn out, and quit unceremoniously. With me, anything is possible.
Advantages of 2:
- I move on my own terms, and take my own time.
- Hopefully better pay and/or commute.
- More time to myself, specially if lesser commute.
Disadvantages of 2:
- I may need to take a huge pay cut. Heard for local NJ jobs, people go down as much as 25%.
- I may hate that job too, like husband says, 'If you been hating every job, or gettign bored, you gotta realize that the problem is in you, and not in the job'. But in my defense, I was happy in my last job, up until the last 10 months.

a job is a job is a job. only 20% of us, if that, love our job. for most of us, it's just a dreary way to get a paycheck. chew on that a bit...

When that very paycheck is not increasing, and was low to begin with, one starts re-evaluting time-money-satisfaction graphs.
