AHMEDABAD: An Ahmedabad-based man who ordered a phone from online shopping portal Amazon got a nasty surprise when he opened the package. Instead of Oppo's shiny new smartphone, the box had a dummy of Apple's iPhone inside.

Vipul Rabari, a resident of Sanand town, Ahmedabad, had ordered an Oppo's NEO 5 (white) worth Rs 5,899 from the online marketplace few days back. His order number 40798774797170736 was delivered on Tuesday afternoon at his home. In his excitement to get his hands on his new smartphone, Rabari opened the package even before the delivery person left the premises. To his shock and anguish, the package contained dummy iPhone instead of phone.

Despite of choosing 'Cash on Delivery' option while ordering the phone, Rabari was forced to pay to the Amazon delivery person.

"The delivery boy told me that he has updated the delivery status in the system and hence won't be able to do anything. It is better to contact customer care," Rabari told IamGujarat.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

To be on the safe side, customers should do a video recording of the package opening.
