IMO it is better to have more people join the anti-gun lobby whichever way they are 'inspired' or 'compelled' to than stay the other side. The fundamental point being missed by the gun lobby is that while evil intentions exist in many and show up in many (unpredictable) ways,  that is the main reason we don't make empowering and destructible weapons  easily available to all and sundry.

I don't have a problem with this guy leaving the gun nuttery. However, I find it abominable that the pain of the parents of 20 dead toddlers didn't change his mind. I find that sickening.

They do not want govt to interfere as socialist government till the time they need help from floods (TX, FL).

They don't want govt. to provide medicines under insurance till the time they are dying from cancer or any life threatening disease.
