An interesting TED Talk about how some Americans are adapting to the increasing demographic diversity of their country... a story with white "separatists", smug urban liberals, guns, and special churches for those white separatists.

interesting video ... will check out the book too. 

i live in a highly republican township, but there is an equally strong (i think) dem front of all colors (that's the key), and the election results are always close, with dem winning many times. you can see racist slurs most palpably here, sometimes even jokingly, and also the fight against it at all levels. Most fights are on political ideology though, and after fighting so much, they have still become close and meet up for drinks and other events many times.
