Why single out FB alone? Every media/website/browser/email service steals info and sells it?

Why Blame FB alone? Almost all the email/browser/ISP collect data about you with/without your consent and sell it to others. So what is the big deal on FB doine/done it?

Facebook has more information about you than others, and they were silent about a beach they knew about. Two good reasons they are the focus.

Well, None (FB) asked anyone to create FB account and post their personal details. FB users chose to give those info and they agreed to the terms and conditions of FB usage. So why blame FB. Same thing for email/ISP services too? Why no one is going after them?

Hopefully, this is the beginning; I'd like the govt. to clampdown on thieves/thugs like FB, linkedin, ISP etc. & have them clean up their act or force them to go out of business sooner than later.

Not quite true. The issue at hand is unauthorized they of data without notice to the users. What is ISP? Do you mean internet service provider?

The EU has done a good job of protecting consumer information and giving the user the right to demand that companies only do with user data what the user is comfortable with. We need something similar to GDPR in the US.
