I don't think Facebook can be held responsible for another company using on its own the info. posted voluntarily by people about themselves on Facebook.

If he was really sorry he would have disclosed the breach when they discovered it. These statements are party of a damage control exercise.

Not right Seva. FB is a multinational corporation which knew/knows what they are doing when they engage in business with a company. It is not that anything happened withOUT Any legal agreements where people signed in it from both sides. So you cannot claim ignorance. They are illegally greedy to use people's personal data (as every other company like google, msn, yahooo, your telephone provider, ISP but just FB alone is caught or this is massive), to make money. FB is a company which makes money on people's personal data. That is all to it. Nothing more and nothing less.Seva Lamberdar wrote:I don't think Facebook can be held responsible for another company using on its own the info. posted voluntarily by people about themselves on Facebook.

Every big company is doing it for quite a few years, collecting / harvesting info. about people from the Internet and using it in business and making money; no-one really cares. It's suddenly a big deal (even illegal!) in this case because the info. about people from Facebook got entangled in the web of Trump election as President of U.S. which many influential Americans and others (especially the Democrats in the U.S,) don't like and they even have Mueller investigation to prove their point (i.e. Trump shouldn't have been elected).

All crooks are sorry - for getting caught, not for actually doing the dirty deed.

Well, All big Financial crooks never said sorry (WF/JPMC/BOA CEOS who committed fraud against customers) but had a heavy $ penalty payment/agreeement with USDOJ and no wrong doing admitted. So FB would also do the same thing or the FB users who lost their data would file a class action lawsuit for $.

Like every other company, Facebook is primarily into making money for itself and not for providing free service to others for no benefit to itself.silvermani wrote:All crooks are sorry - for getting caught, not for actually doing the dirty deed.
