Fox News reports, a recent study, the researchers at Harvard Medical School examined the post-death brain tissue of people who died in their 60s and 70s and compared it with the tissues of people aged over 100 years.


They found that the ones who died at a younger age had lower levels of a protein called REST (RE-1 Silencing Transcription). It’s a protein that soothes brain activity, reports Nature.


As per earlier research, excessive activity in the brain causes shorter life spans, on the other hand lowering such overactivity in brain helps in extending the life of a person. The REST also protects people in their 60s and 70s against Alzheimer’s disease.
