As reported in an earlier post ("The Conservative Party Of Canada Seeks New Federal Leader As Previous Leader Resigned Following Party's Electoral Defeat," March 7, 2022,  http://creative.sulekha.com/the-conservative-party-of-canada-seeks-new-federal-leader-as-previous-leader-resigned-following-party-s-electoral-defeat-n1_640938_blog ), there are finally six candidates in the race to get elected as the federal leader of Conservative Party of Canada.

They include Ms. Leslyn Lewis, Mr. Roman Baber, Mr. Jean Charest, Mr. Scott Aitchison, Mr. Patrick Brown, and Mr. Pierre Poilievre.

The federal leader of Conservative Party of Canada will be chosen from the above on Sept. 10, 2022, through internal voting by members of Conservative Party of Canada. In that capacity (as Conservative Party's federal leader), he / she will lead the Conservative Party in next federal (parliamentary) elections as Conservative Party's prime ministerial (P.M.) candidate. He / she will also be the official leader of Conservative Party in the House of Commons (the Lower House of Parliament) after getting elected as M.P. to the Lower House of Parliament in parliamentary election.

The first debate among above six candidates was held on May 11, 2022, in Edmonton (Canada) and moderated / led by journalist Mr. Tom Clark.

This is a good way to pick / elect the leader of a political party provincially or federally.

The debates among various candidates trying to become the provincial leader of a political party (potential premier or chief minister from the party after the provincial election) or federal leader of a political party (potential prime minister from the party after the parliamentary election) help party members to vote for the best candidate in the intra-party election of provincial or federal leader.

Moreover, the media coverage of such events / debates keeps people at large informed about significant provincial and national issues.
