Re: Six candidates running to become the federal leader of Conservative Party of Canada take part in debate in Edmonton on May 11
This is a good way to pick / elect the leader of a political party provincially or federally.
The debates among various candidates trying to become the provincial leader of a political party (potential premier or chief minister from the party after the provincial election) or federal leader of a political party (potential prime minister from the party after the parliamentary election) help party members to vote for the best candidate in the intra-party election of provincial or federal leader.
Moreover, the media coverage of such events / debates keeps people at large informed about significant provincial and national issues.
