just found out today are totally related. the -s ending in english and other IE languages becomes an -h in sanskrit. didn't realize the equivalence of these two. apparently this happens through a phonological evolutionary process called debuccalization. gods - deva-h from the proto indo european (PIE) root deiwos! cool.

This is incontrovertible proof that Indians migrated North-West-West and populated Europe. Seva Unkil, take a bow.

i am afraid sevaji is going to be sorely disappointed. i am no expert, but from my readings the phonological evolutionary process is debuccalization, never buccalization, i.e. an articulated consonant (s) becoming a glottal stop (h). so the migration direction is quite clear and it is not in the direction that would make sevaji happy.

eta: but here is a crazy theory that would allow sevaji to retain his equilibrium and not mess up his day. indians started off with the -s addition to form plurals. some of them went north-west-west carrying the -s plural while the ones that stayed behind evolved their speech to replace the -s plural with the -h plural. and all is right with the world.

haha continuing my own crazy theory for the benefit of sevaji. somewhere along the way these migratory indians stopped for a while in iran, lost the -s and replaced it with the glottal stop -h to create avestan and old persian. now they continue west to europe. oops problem now as they are creating the germanic languages. they have to buccalize to recreate the -s from the -h. confusion time. well, no problem let's create two streams of westward migrating indians. some stopped in iran to lose the -s and gain the -h just like the brethren they left behind. some others kept continuing to europe while keeping the -s. problem solved.
