I didnt know that Satyaki was taught by Arjuna. I thought Satyaki was about same age as Arjuna. Your question made me look for an answer. Karna's son Vrishakethu was trained by Arjuna after the war.

AFAIK satyaki was Arjuna's friend. Web wisdom says his guru was Dronacharya.

Not just learning secrets (call it advanced training). In any event, on the 14th day of the war when Drona himself says to Satyaki that he must defeat him (Drona) first before he could go any further. And that he (Drona) under no circumstances would offer the same courtesy he (Drona) offered his (Satyaki's) teacher (Arjuna) and allow him (Satyaki) to bypass him without fighting. That's when Satyaki defeats Drona in battle (no one had ever achieved that feat) and passes him to go help Arjuna. Check Mahabharata translation by Ganguli (Drona Parva).

EviTanDi meeru kooDaanu! Here is a Telugu one from Wiki. Look at the top of the page where it says chaturtha aSvaaSam and read that paragraph. Iam also providing the relevant sentence from Drona when he addresses Satyaki. The context is -- It's the 14th day of war. Arjuna was after Saindhava to avenge his son Abhimanyu's killing the previous day. Arjuna already passed Drona who was at the head of the Kaurava army. Yusdhishtara was concerned about Arjuna going alone and asked Satyaki to go help him out. Drona stops Satyaki and challenges him.

" సాత్యకీ ! నా పరాక్రమముకు తట్టుకోలేక నీ గురువు అర్జునుడు నాతో యుద్ధము చేయకుండా పారి పోయాడు. ఇప్పుడు నువ్వు వచ్చావు నా బాణముల రుచి చూద్దువుగాని " (chaturtha aSvaaSa)

Ayyo, I didnt mean it that way! That was a genuine question, totally unrelated to the quiz. I've never read an original translation(I've a read a few books but the original translation) of Mahabharata and would like to read one. So asked you for a reco.

Okay, Ganguli's is considered a decent translation in English, with some stuff here and there which is not in the original sanskrit work. Telugulo, other than the classical Nannaya, Tikkana, Errapragada translations, a reasonably good modern one is by a guy named Viswam. But the darned thing too abridged missing a lot of stuff, somewhat like Rajaji's translation in English.
