How can a class of people who lust after ‘superpower’ status show such pygmy-sized self-worth?

How can a class of people who lust after the glamorous nomenclature of being deemed a “superpower” show such pygmysized self-worth? TIME’s covers were not exposés that pointed to any new facts about Indian public life, nor did they argue differently from dozens of domestic media outlets. So why did they trigger such seismic tremors of shame or triumph?
TIME is a valuable thermometer of American opinion. Even so, it’s a reading of only one slice of that opinion.

Kayal, be precise. Some Tamilians demonstrated before Times of India office in Chennai, mistaking it for the Time. And to add to the hilarity, they burnt an effigy of Ravi Shastri, mistaking him for the BJP spokesman! Looks like outraged tambis = high comedy.

MD..that is hilarious!
"CHENNAI: When did US-based Time Magazine become a part of the Times of India Group of publications? Tamil Nadu Youth Congress activists who appear to be under the impression that the US publication is part of the Times group, tore up copies of the newspaper during a protest against a Time magazine report which carried a photograph of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh labeled "Underachiever". Although they were informed by mediapersons that Time was not part of the Times group, the protestors went ahead and damaged copies of the newspaper outside the American Consulate."

I demand a new newspaper "Times of Tamil Nadu" to be founded immediately.
KV: Is this TIMES part of Times of India OR the American TIME OR The Hindu? Can you please clarify?

This is not just a matter of precision. It is a tacit admission from Kayal that Tamilians are Indians. There may even be a hint of pride in that Indianness that is emerging there.Merlot Daruwala wrote:Kayalvizhi wrote:some indians demontrated before Times of India office.
