it is undeniable that coverage in the US of the olympics has always been lopsided with attention paid only to american athletes and their sports. those of us who live in the US and rely primarily on US news sources tend to miss out on such stories.

Thou protesteth, I got it:) "Silly" is good, I like silly..in some things, like threads which are totally harmless and not to offend anyone..And, can't lower expectations with "I'm so lazy, I am utterly lazy"..business.

So, Gabby did badly today (in the balance beam) too.

Although all the gymnasts are so good..and it's always close..too bad that all the spotlight-coverage-endorsements-deals..seem to be taking a toll so quickly on Gabby..just looks like the joy-innocence we saw during the all-around when there was hardly any expectation..is not there anymore..she looked stressed, dull..the effervescence fading so soon..

Rain or not..in my view..she needs real faith now-in herself, the good values she was raised with, and Yes- faith in God too.. more than ever before- when she is tested with all kinds of temptations, disappointments and has to face them- as "the whole world will be watching/following her every move-life forever" etc. The cute "flying squirrel" part is already gone on line..and it's good old "monkey" now..

Just a nice story about a woman athlete who wears a flower in her hair and stands out in her events..(miss doing that, like we do in India..jasmine, roses, samandhi, kanakambaram..etc).

I saw bolt's events and am mightily impressesd. You tell them what you are going to do and then get on worlds biggest stage and doing it in great style. That guy was arrogant and cocky. But he delivered. That takes the edge of his brashness.
