first, the macdonalds in rural america are few in number. second, many people in rural america (including the poor) have a proud tradition of hunting. The point is that you cannot take away a gun from someone who is using it to fill his stomach.

The Federal assault weapons ban had nothing to do with taking away weapons that are primarily used for hunting. Still, the NRA aggressively lobbied Congress until the ban got killed. May Akbar save us from hasty conclusions.
